An attorney in MG+M's New Orleans, Louisiana, office, Erika M. Cunningham is a member of the Products Liability and Complex Tort Litigation Group. She has regularly handled construction defect and professional liability claims representing architects, contractors, and engineers and has represented multiple product manufacturers and premises owners in asbestos exposure claims. Erika is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana, as well as licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.

Erika earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School, where she was a member of the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property, and authored the Comment entitled “The Influence of Disease on the Evolution of U.S. Patent Law and Policy towards foreign Patent Laws in the Late Twentieth to Early Twenty-First Century,” which has been cited in several briefs filed before the United States Supreme Court. Erika earned a Professional Certification in European Legal Studies while at Tulane Law, which included study at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

Erika is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During her undergraduate years, Erika worked summers at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) in Frederick, Maryland where she conducted independent research in the Virology and Diagnostic Systems Divisions and developed techniques for experiments performed in the labs at USAMRIID and other facilities around the world.

Erika started her legal career with a law firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Erika grew up in Potomac, Maryland, however, she fell in love with New Orleans during her years at Tulane and returned to make New Orleans her home after Hurricane Katrina. She is an active member of the Junior League of New Orleans. Erika also regularly teaches continuing education.
