Gustavo A. Martinez-Tristani is a partner in the firm's Miami office. Gus focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury defense, maritime law, and defense of automotive/transportation claims. His clients have included marine and non-marine insurers, importers of goods, and land and ocean transportation carriers. In addition, he has represented individual physicians and medical facilities in medical malpractice lawsuits, as well as victims in personal injury and medical malpractice lawsuits.
Gus was born and raised in Puerto Rico and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Puerto Rico. He earned his Juris Doctor Degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review, the Dean’s List, and graduated in the top 20% of his class. Gus then earned a Master of Laws Degree in Admiralty Law from Tulane University, School of Law, New Orleans, Louisiana, having also graduated in the top 20% of his class.
Gus served in the U.S. Army as an enlisted and commissioned officer, graduated from the U.S. Army Ordnance School, Aberdeen Providing Ground, Maryland and the U.S. Army Airborne School, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. As an Army officer, Gus also commanded and trained Ordnance and Infantry reserve units.
In his free time, Gus enjoys bicycling, swimming, and shooting (target practice).
