Mentoring Moment: More Than A Few Good Men. I recently presented at the NAWL Annual Meeting. My presentation was Looking Up & Looking Out For Each Other - Getting Past the Subtle Roadblocks of Anti-Woman Bias. One thing I was clear about at the very start of my talk: it was NOT a male bashing session. And efforts by women to empower each other should not be viewed as such. I am grateful for the men that recognized my abilities and professionally supported me throughout my career. Those men had the vision to anticipate the evolution of the legal landscape from the tolerance of women to their empowerment as leaders. Sure, we have some distance to cover before we realize gender equity in the law. But in the words of the late Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals, Judith Kaye, "We must not get discouraged. We have a long way to go but we have come so very far." That progress is the direct result of the commitment of generations of women to getting what we rightly deserve. We can also give credit where it's due, to more than a few good men who have helped along the way. [NAWL is recording my presentation for future viewing on Thursday, August 27 @ 1:00 Eastern. If you would like to be part of the conversation, DM me.] #NAWL #empowerment, #genderequality
