Mentoring Moment: Women's History Is About TIME. As we hit the turn on Women's History Month, I decided to take a look at one woman's history--my own. I am proud to say that it is filled with women who were rightfully lauded (e.g. the late Judge Judith Kaye) and those who are lesser known, but equally laudable. What do these women have in common? They each refused to give up their seat at the table. The focus of my MG+M supported CLE, Candid Talk Women, is encouraging women to opt-in to the practice of law. Unfortunately, over my career I have seen too many good women leaving our ranks. The number one reason, according to most studies, is disrespect. If women are still struggling for something as basic as respect, the natural question is: Why opt-in? The answer is time: both its investment and the moment. We have collectively and individually invested a great deal of time in our chosen profession. Think about the effort it takes a single woman to get here. We have all individually walked a long road: undergrad, law school, bar exams, plus years of practice and building business. Collectively, we have traveled a great distance, as well. And if this isn't the moment for our movement, then when? So like the great women I have had the privilege to watch over the course of my career, let's keep our seats at the table so we can keep changing Women's History. #womenshistorymonth
