Overview

Adam Hays focuses his practice on a variety of litigation areas, including premises liability, personal injury, products liability, commercial litigation and maritime litigation. He has extensive experience on many of these matters and has represented clients from jurisdictions including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York and Texas. He has tried cases in state and federal courts for a wide range of matters. His primary focus is premises liability and products liability.

Adam is an AV Preeminent lawyer as rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is a member of MG+M's National Trial Team. He is certified by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). He currently serves as a faculty member for the LSU Trial Advocacy Program and has served as a faculty member of NITA. 

Adam has actively defended premises owners in litigation since 2006. He has participated as first and second chair in premises liability cases that have resulted it defense verdicts and directed verdicts. He has successfully defended premises liability defendants in the Mississippi appellate courts. He has also actively defended products liability cases since 2004. Adam has also defended trucking litigation defendants since 2006.

Adam actively participates with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, a non-profit legal aid organization. 

Experience

  • Secured a defense verdict from a New Orleans–area jury for a national air conditioner manufacturer and a national retailer in a cause and origin fire case. Clients were facing more than $450,000 in damages but were completely exonerated as the jury determined there was not a defect in the product.
  • Obtained a complete defense verdict in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of a former supplier of asbestos cement pipe. Plaintiff asked for an award of more than $100 million, in addition to punitive damages. Jury came back with a complete defense verdict, as they believed the plaintiff’s exposures to asbestos could not be legally attributed to our client. 

    Appellate Experience
  • Successfully briefed appeal of directed verdict for premises liability defendant on slip and fall claim before Mississippi Court of Appeals (directed verdict upheld on appeal).
  • Successfully briefed and argued novel issue of denial of summary judgment for a government entity sued for negligence when plaintiff was involved in an automobile accident resulting in paralysis during a state of emergency before Mississippi Supreme Court.
  • Successfully briefed appeal of granting of summary judgment of product liability claim before the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal of Louisiana.
