Laurelly Dale, a seasoned litigator with more than 18 years of experience, has developed a defense practice with a concentration on representing insurers and insured entities at a national level in matters arising under the Child Victims’ Act (CVA) and related abuse litigation. Her practice is dedicated to advising and defending organizations facing complex, high-exposure claims stemming from historical allegations of abuse.
Laurelly's experience extends to the defense of religious institutions, youth organizations, educational entities, and other insured clients across multiple jurisdictions. She works closely with insurance carriers, in-house counsel, and risk management teams to develop comprehensive defense strategies tailored to the sensitivities and procedural nuances of CVA litigation. Her approach emphasizes rigorous analysis, strategic negotiation, and efficient resolution of claims, often achieving favorable outcomes through dispositive motions or early settlement strategies.
With a strong foundation in both civil litigation and criminal defense, Laurelly brings a multifaceted perspective to each matter she handles. She collaborates with private investigators, insurance archeologists, and co-counsel nationwide to prepare thorough defenses that protect her clients’ legal and reputational interests.
In addition to her national CVA defense practice, Laurelly continues to handle complex construction defect and general liability matters.
Her reputation for diligence, professionalism, and results-driven advocacy has made her a trusted partner to insurers and institutions facing sensitive and challenging litigation.
Prior to joining MG+M, Laurelly practiced at Bremer Whyte Brown & O'Meara, LLP, where she litigated construction defect and general liability cases. She also played a key role at Lee, Landrum, LLP, in preparing the firm for a six-month trial involving a complex construction litigation claim alleging over $25 million in damages against the client for defects due to dewatering. Earlier in her career, Laurelly served as a criminal staff attorney at the San Francisco Superior Court, drafting rulings and legal memoranda for judicial review.
She also spent 15 years as a sole practitioner in Toronto and Northern Ontario, Canada, handling more than 2,000 criminal cases ranging from minor misdemeanor infractions to complex first-degree murders. Her experience led her to testify before Parliament as a criminal law expert in 2019. In August 2019, The Globe and Mail profiled Laurelly as an important member of the Toronto legal community.
Beyond her legal career, Laurelly is an accomplished marathoner, having earned the Six Star Medal by completing all six Abbott World Major Marathons and seven Boston Marathons. She is actively involved in the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary, previously serving as Chair of the education and outreach program for students and trainees.
