MG+M The Law Firm is pleased to present the first installment of our Design Professionals Special Series: “Data Center Projects—Market Drivers, Project Realities & Early-Stage Risk.” This session will provide an overview of the market forces driving data center development, the scale and complexity of these projects, and the evolving role and risks faced by design professionals. The program will feature:
- Brian Satkowski, JD, Vice President at Sompo Insurance
- David Hatem, Partner at MG+M The Law Firm
- Michael Robertson, Of Counsel at MG+M The Law Firm
Data center projects are expanding rapidly across North America, driven by increasing demand for cloud computing, AI infrastructure, and energy-intensive technologies. This first session will examine the key factors shaping development, along with the challenges and opportunities facing design professionals involved in these projects.
We will explore key considerations at the front end of projects, including site selection challenges, environmental and regulatory pressures, and technical design demands. The discussion will highlight common risks arising from project planning, coordination, and resource constraints—providing practical insights to help design professionals navigate early-stage decision-making. Finally, we will discuss key contractual considerations specific to data center projects and how to draft specific terms to mitigate your risk.
This program is part of a two-part series. Please save the date for part 2, taking place on June 30 from 12–1p.m. ET. The second session will focus on key risk management considerations for data center projects, including the applicable standard of care, potential sources of disputes and professional liability claims, and the range of professional liability insurance options available to design professionals, along with related underwriting considerations.
We hope you will join us for this timely and insightful discussion
