John Beemer focuses his practice on construction defect and general liability defense. He represents developers, contractors, businesses, and individuals in complex civil litigation throughout California. He has more than a decade of experience managing high-value matters from intake through trial in both state and federal courts.
John spent several years as outside counsel to a Fortune 500 retailer, defending a substantial portfolio of premises and general liability matters throughout California in close coordination with the company's in-house legal team. That work included catastrophic personal injury and traumatic brain injury cases, as well as high-stakes matters involving workplace safety and forensic epidemiology arising in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in his career, while clerking at the California Public Utilities Commission, he contributed to rulemaking proceedings addressing the emergence of rideshare platforms. That work that required close analysis of novel regulatory questions at the intersection of science, technology, and public policy.
Before entering the legal profession, John worked as an industrial designer for an architectural lighting manufacturer, building on earlier coursework in the sciences and architecture. That cross-disciplinary background continues to inform his approach to technical litigation and client communication.
