Dan Powell defends product manufacturers, premises owners and contractors in toxic tort litigation involving high-liability claims of catastrophic injury and wrongful death.

Dan serves as national coordinating counsel (NCC) for a large industrial products company and an automotive products manufacturer, developing comprehensive solutions to help his clients successfully navigate the defense of products liability and premises claims across various active and high-risk jurisdictions throughout the country. In this role, he regularly collaborates with outside local counsel to implement effective and efficient litigation strategies from the time the case is filed through trial.

In addition to his NCC roles, Dan serves as local and regional counsel throughout the Midwest for a wide range of product manufacturer and contractor clients facing claims involving terminal illness and wrongful death. Tapping into his extensive litigation experience, he develops and executes innovative strategies that help his clients meet and exceed their objectives.

Dan’s clients trust him to fully protect their interests by assessing risks and evaluating claims, preparing and deposing fact and expert witnesses, responding to written discovery regarding sensitive corporate information and effectively arguing pre-trial motions. He frequently defends clients at mediations, settlement conferences and trial dockets in state and federal jurisdictions nationwide and is determined to achieve the best resolution for his clients.

Prior to joining MG+M, Dan was a shareholder based in Chicago at another national litigation defense firm. He participates in local and national conferences and seminars and contributes to the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Products Liability Practice Handbook. He currently serves on the Recruitment Committee at MG+M and is committed to the long-term success of the firm’s clients by helping attract and retain diverse, talented and experienced professionals to fortify MG+M’s established culture of inclusivity and provide the highest quality legal service.

Dan lives in a northwest suburb of Chicago with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys traveling with his family, running in the local forest preserve, attending concerts and chasing the Peloton leaderboard as DJPedal. He also enjoys supporting his hometown Bucks, Brewers, Packers and Badgers.
