Carrie Lin has 20 years of experience in the defense of West Coast product liability and toxic tort actions, and has served as lead trial counsel, national counsel, and local counsel in cases from the point of inception through trial in California, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. In addition to her extensive litigation and trial experience in product and premises liability claims involving asbestos, silica, and mold, she serves on the national coordinating and consulting teams for “emerging torts” involving property and bodily injury claims from PFOA, PFAS, PFOS and other PFCs, as well as microplastics. She has served as the lead author of appeals and writs to California’s First District Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the Washington Supreme Court, resulting in multiple favorable published decisions.
Carrie has achieved significant trial and appellate successes defending manufacturers, suppliers, and other corporate defendants in complex product liability and toxic tort litigation. Her experience includes obtaining complete defense verdicts in both bench and jury trials, defeating multi-million dollar claims involving alleged product defects, asbestos exposure, cosmetic talc claims, and other product and premise-related injury allegations such as silica and mold. She has also secured dismissals on the eve of trial and successfully defended those outcomes on appeal, helping establish or reinforce important legal principles involving sophisticated user and intermediary defenses, product misuse, and expert witness qualifications. In addition to her trial work, Carrie has served as lead appellate counsel in matters involving evidentiary and privilege issues, including published appellate decisions affirming favorable rulings for her clients.
Carrie is a graduate of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings). She earned her Bachelor of Arts from New York University in Comparative Literature in 2001. Carrie served as a law clerk to San Francisco Superior Court judges Ronald Quidachay and James Warren in the Civil Law and Motion Department. In law school, she served as a summer honors law clerk for the California Attorney General’s Office, working in the field of Energy and Corporate Compliance, and externed with the Marin County Public Defender’s Office and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
