Overview

Joel Merchant concentrates his practice on representing clients in general and complex litigation matters involving construction and labor law, products liability and toxic tort. Joel has extensive experience managing cases in all stages of litigation, including developing a defense strategy, drafting pleadings, drafting and arguing motions, defending and conducting depositions, negotiating settlements, and preparing for and appearing at trial. Joel has substantial courtroom experience advocating for clients, including arguing discovery motions, motions in limine and examining witnesses at trial.

Joel works with clients to provide creative solutions to complex legal issues through diligent case preparation and effective reporting. His clients know that Joel brings a unique perspective and set of skills to find creative ways to resolve cases.

Prior to joining MG+M, Joel worked as a litigation associate at a law firm in New York City. Joel earned his JD from Suffolk University Law School with a concentration in trial and appellate advocacy. He participated in the Suffolk Defenders Clinic as a student attorney and represented indigent criminal defendants throughout the greater Boston area. He also competed on the Suffolk University Law School National Trial Team and was the Champion of the Inter-Scholastic Second-Year Day/Third-Year Evening Trial Competition. Joel holds a BA in philosophy with a minor in religious studies from the University of Central Florida.
