Thomas Stanton has had more than 30 years of practice in-house with Fortune 500 companies, and extensive experience in a wide range of business and insured litigation matters. He has advised clients in the C-Suite and in frontline management positions on litigation avoidance and the handling of high-stakes cases. He has a keen eye for evaluating exposure and a clear understanding of the financial and reputational impact of disputes on clients and on their relationships with business partners. Tom’s judgment and communication skills are hallmarks of his practice.

Tom has appeared as company representative at hundreds of arbitrations, mediations and settlement conferences. He has prepared countless clients for testimony at deposition, trial and hearings. He has taken more than 20 matters to final adjudication at trial or appeal in federal and state courts and at final hearings in arbitrations in the United States and Latin America. Tom is fluent in Spanish.

Tom serves on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Belonging Partner Committee, where he helps drive efforts to optimize the firm’s work in those areas. Throughout his career, Tom has been actively engaged in providing pro bono representation to individuals and legal aid groups in a variety of areas, including veterans’ benefits and immigration law. In 2009, he served for several months as a volunteer aboard the USNS Comfort, coordinating the work of health-care professionals on missions to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Colombia, and then later a one-month mission to Liberia, supporting land-based clinics and an education program at a hospital in Monrovia. Tom brings passion for service to others to his practice.

Born in Massachusetts, Tom has called every corner of North America home, having lived in Florida, Alaska and Mexico. He now resides in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, with his wife, Monica. They enjoy traveling the world and spending time with their adult children, Alyssa and Colin.
